Real Madrid Rejects Kimmich Move

Joshua Kimmich is one of those footballers who have decided to ride the trend of pushing contract renewals to the limit, or at least until the countdown has already begun. In this quest for a better deal, offers of all kinds tend to arise, often mixed with rumored and supposed interests from teams that suddenly appear on the player's radar. In the case of the German midfielder, the latest rumors from Germany suggest interest and even open negotiations between Kimmich’s agent and Real Madrid—a claim that has been firmly denied by sources at Valdebebas.

The Spanish club has categorically denied any contact or interest in signing the versatile German player. This is not the first time Kimmich has been linked with Real Madrid. Last summer, he was considered a possible replacement for Kroos, and now his name has resurfaced in connection with the club’s struggles at right-back. According to MARCA, however, there has been nothing more than an unreciprocated offer, as Kimmich does not fit into the club’s plans.

Negotiations with Bayern Munich are ongoing for Kimmich’s contract renewal, much like Alphonso Davies’ situation. While in Davies' case there was real interest and some strange moves by the player's agent, who failed to respect deadlines and prior discussions, Kimmich’s situation is somewhat similar. Both players have had open contract renewal talks for over a year, and their names have been linked to various clubs in the meantime.

A comparable situation can be seen in Virgil van Dijk’s case, where the player also waited until the final stretch of his contract to make decisions. Weeks ago, Van Dijk was linked with Real Madrid as well, but the Liverpool center-back is also not in the club’s plans, as they focus on the summer market. Unless a last-minute miracle softens Liverpool’s stance and leads to negotiations for a move for Alexander-Arnold, Ancelotti will likely not have any reinforcements for the second half of the season.
