Giménez’s Move to Milan?
Several reports indicate that AC Milan has already made a formal offer for the Mexican forward Santiago Giménez. The club, known as 'Il Diavolo,' is said to be actively pursuing the striker as part of their plans for the upcoming season. This move reflects Milan's intent to strengthen their attack, and the possibility of Giménez joining the Italian side has generated considerable interest, particularly with the prospect of him linking up with Christian Pulisic, who recently joined the club.
The Mexican forward Santiago Giménez could finally find himself in the spotlight among the best teams in the world as soon as the upcoming summer transfer window. Several reports from the Mexican press suggest that the current Feyenoord striker has received an offer from AC Milan, with the transfer potentially being formalized in the next summer window.
While Giménez has attracted attention from several European clubs since his arrival at Feyenoord in 2022, he has yet to successfully negotiate a move to a top-tier league. Despite his impressive performances in the Eredivisie, the move to a major European club like Milan would represent a significant step in his career.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio and the website OcwSport.com, AC Milan's management has already begun negotiations with Feyenoord during the summer. Since Santiago Giménez extended his contract with Feyenoord until 2027, the Dutch club is keen on ensuring they receive a significant benefit from his potential transfer.
The report suggests that Milan has offered around 30 million euros ($31.2 million) for a loan agreement with an obligatory purchase option. The proposal is awaiting approval from Feyenoord’s board. Other sources claim that the offer could be for a permanent transfer, as Feyenoord is unlikely to accept a loan deal for one of their most valuable assets.
Since joining the Eredivisie, Santi Giménez has played 103 matches for Feyenoord, scoring 62 goals and providing 14 assists. This season, despite being sidelined for several games due to injury, he has netted 13 goals in 17 appearances, marking a clear upward trajectory in his career.
In addition to Milan, it’s known that Premier League side Nottingham Forest also showed interest in signing him, but Santi himself decided to decline their offer.
Currently, Santiago Giménez earns around $1.7 million per season with Feyenoord, according to the specialized website Salary Sport. However, if he moves to AC Milan, he could potentially earn up to $8 million per year, a significant increase in salary.
Meanwhile, Santi continues to train as usual for the time being.
If the offer from Milan doesn't come to fruition, the club is also reportedly eyeing Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez as an alternative, possibly on loan.
In Serie A, Milan urgently needs a forward and is willing to invest up to $70 million, which is roughly the value of Giménez’s transfer fee, according to reports.
Another speculation suggests that Liverpool may need to adjust their squad if Darwin Núñez moves to Milan, which could open up a potential opportunity for Giménez as a fallback option.
